Redmond man takes health coverage fight to D.C.

Accessible, affordable health insurance. That is the problem Benjamin Lindner sent Redmond, Washington DC, as witnesses on Capitol Hill late last week.

Lindner told the Senate Special Committee on Aging on Thursday of last week, since the quality of health care coverage is a major priority for Americans age - an age group which, as a rule generally pay more health costs, and has a coverage more difficult to find.

In his final commentary before the Senate panel, Lindner said: “In short, we must ensure all Americans.”

Lindner and his wife, health insurance through their small business, following the move of Central Oregon opened in 1993. At that time, it pays $ 5000 per year for the health of the preserve. Well, it’s more than quadrupled, dir feast $ 21,000.

“We pay $ 10.50 per hour on health,” says Lindner Tuesday.

But the couple has no other choice. Benjamin suffers from psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. His wife, Leslie cancer and was recently treated renal failure - a procedure for insurance to cover refused.

Because of their existing conditions, the couple is not provided by other means.

“We have no possibility to be retiring to walk, or choose another profession, because we have our assurance that, and perhaps unable to recover,” said Lindner.

Three weeks before the National Psoriasis Foundation Portland office contacted Lindner, ask him his story to members of Congress.

At the hearing of the committee, Senator Ron Wyden, D-Ore., Group One of the speakers of our state.

“The big question before the Committee of the coin is simple,” said Wyden. “How is it that so many Americans aged between 55 and 64 cases between enlargement of cracks in the American health care system?”

It’s question hundreds of people want to, they can answer - and to remedy it.

Lindner three goals: coverage, which is available to all American, are with different prices, and cost reduction.

“I have almost no matter what you plan to come, but they have something to do,” said Lindner.

Well, he’s back at home, Redmond, Lindner said his trip was a success for him personally.

“I had a good time,” he said. “It was a wonderful experience for me.”

But as in the case of the biggest problems for the health care coverage for Americans of maturity, there is still much to achieve.

“I would readily admit that, on this issue at national level, with a real management and leadership, and I am confident that we,” said Lindner.

The two fellows Wyden and Oregon, Gordon Smith, Senator of the Subcommittee of the Senate Lindner testified. He said Wyden Health Reform Bill, with about six co-sponsors in the Senate, but it is far from a past more.
